Been a while since I’ve updated. So here is an update.
Courses, done.
Student teaching – SpEd, done.
Student teaching – GenEd, done.
MTTC, (teacher cert test), scheduled.
Graduation, May. Certification following.
Job hunt, done.
The job hunt is going well. I have an exciting and, yes, adventurous prospect. I will know the status of that soon, probably sooner than I had been thinking. I had one goal in mind when deciding where I wanted to teach, and that was rural AK. This definitely fits the bill. Honestly, the location is not quite where we envisioned. But there are far more important factors than location.
A couple of things are certain though.
1. We were discussing driving to AK and then flying/shipping from ANC to our new home. A quick look at airline prices has pretty much nixed this idea. In late July/early Aug, flights from DTW to ANC are about $300/person. We couldn’t drive that cheaply. Since a car will not be a necessity in our new home, we’ll leave it behind. We can use it when we come back and visit, I guess. Or donate it – it’s got a bazillion miles on it and an undefined engine noise, perhaps a lifter?
2. I will spend the next 3 months purging, packing, and inventorying. It is good that I will have time to do this, since I am done with school stuff (for the most part) and will be subbing.

Did you intentionally omit exactly where in Russia Alaska you are going? It will be an interesting place to come visit.
Well, I didn’t know exactly where when I posted that post on Friday. 😉 Now I do. And yes, I am omitting until we tell all family members.
Hey about your car…lemme know if you might be interested in selling it if you do not keep it for visits….I might have a boyfriend who might be looking for a car :)….
